Tintangel
Cornwall, UK

Tintangel is a collection of ancient ruins and fortification on of the west coast of Cornwall. The popular local story is that it was home to King Arthur. Stories aside, it sat on a crag with vertical sides, and the only way in was over a narrow bridge some 60 or 70 feet over the waves crashing on the rocks below, and must have been quite difficult to attack.

When I first saw it some 15 years ago, visitors could climb around the ruins without restriction. However, today it is owned by the Historic Trust, and all tourists must pay a fee to visit the site, and all are barred after 6pm. Thus we could not take any pictures of the more interesting ruins. However, we did manage to make some photos of the area.
